mipi-dbi-spi is ALWAYS using a DRM driver. It uses the compatible string "panel-mipi-dbi-spi" which matches up to compatible string advertised by the driver.Thank you...
I was reading the DTS overlay that enables the mipi-dbi LCD driver:
https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/bl ... verlay.dts
And I started to wonder: what is the DTS that enables the ozzmaker/waveshare LCDs? Where's the logic that picks up the "drm" driver?
The piscreen overlay uses an fbdev driver compatible of "ilitek,ili9486" by default. Using the drm override changes this compatible to "waveshare,rpi-lcd-35" which matches the DRM ili9486 driver
