Thank you for the response to my question. Some clarifications:
I have a RAK Wireless 7246 LoRa Gateway.
This comprises a Raspberry Pi Zero W and a LoRa HAT.
I selected the 7246 over the more modern Pi 4 alternative because I intend to deploy the module as a battery powered central node in a simple star configuration.
My final app must combine both btstack and loragw_hal.
Both are large packages and will take HOURS to compile on the Pi Zero
Hence my desire to cross compile.
I remain hopeful someone can help
