Well @neilgl, I'm not so sure that you have understood my post. After all I was able to connect to various VPN Servers once it was clear where the problems are.

However, reading your comment it looks like you have some sort of permission/ownership problem or your .ovpn files has not been created properly and is not correct. May be your OpenVPN Server is not setup correct with the certificates.
I have just recently set up a Pi4 with Bookworm and there has been no problems to read .ovpn files from various OpenVPN servers, if created correctly. I have tested this with a pivpn (pivpn.io) installation on various Raspberry pi's and with a Synology NAS. It may alsobe that your Network Manager is not installed properly.

I guess you need to check your .ovpn file, permissions, ownership of your certificates as well as your port forwarding on your router etc.
Have fun!
Maybe I wasn't clear, or you didn't understand.

In Bookworm, importing an OVPN file that also contained TLS certificates worked. The problem is that the OVPN file isn't imported correctly into Trixie.

I'm only talking about importing via the graphical interface.

If I launch the file from the terminal, the connection is obviously working, which means the OVPN file is correct. But I wasn't talking about the connection, but about importing via the Network Manager panel.
