Raspberry Pi OS • Re: NetworkManager Connection Configuration File

Before I made this post, I checked to see if I'd mixed up my chewable vitamins again. Things like that, and shouting at people to get off your lawn (and you know who you are), seem to be a natural part of getting old. So here I am again, stomping on this hornets nest. Just reporting my observations. No recriminations. No histrionics. Not looking for any sympathy.

Just used the Mac version of Raspberry Pi Imager 2.0.0 to install the latest lite version of Raspberry Pi OS (Trixe Lite), dated Nov 24, 2025. After placing the SD card into a Raspberry Pi 3B+, and configuring it as a bridged access point using the commands I posted earlier in this thread, I observed the following:

1. The /etc/netplan/ directory was empty. No yaml file in sight.
2. The /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/ directory contained the .nmconnection files for each of the created connections.
3. The connection configuration file names were derived using the connection name, and not its assigned UUID.
4. The /run/NetworkManager/system-connections/ directory only contained a .nmconnection file for "lo".
5. Manual changes made to .nmconnection files in the /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/ directory are persistent, and take effect following the next reboot.

If I'm not mistaken, this is new behaviour for Trixie, and almost identical to that of Bookworm.
