I got it to work after the submodule update. I ignored the warning about picotool and I added a reference to hardware/clocks.h, which is wear the set_sys_clock_khz() function is now located. A test project compiled to slightly less FLASH (260 bytes), but uses 2,900 more bytes, which seems odd. It does work as expected though.
we try to be careful not to let bloat happen between releases - did you compare the MAP files between the two versions to see where the size increase came from... it's not clear where the "2900" bytes usage is? RAM?
