I'm looking to use a USB wifi interface on my Pi5 running Trixie. Network Manager is in place (this is a default installation) and I see the following:

Code:

vxla@tahiti:~ $ rfkillID TYPE DEVICE SOFT HARD 0 bluetooth hci0 unblocked unblocked 1 wlan phy0 unblocked unblocked 2 wlan phy1 unblocked unblocked
I've tried adding "interface-name=wlan1" to the "[connection]" stanza in /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/preconfigured.nmconnection but this did not bring the external interface up on reboot and the internal, wlan0 interface, was disabled.

What is the recommended way of changing interfaces?

Thanks in advance.

OS release:
