Guys,
OK it get it. It's NO!
I have a number of widely diverse projects, some nailing me to older OS versions because they still use the very useful WiringPi but also have an astronomy project using a heavily tweaked MJPEG_Streamer top end that sits between Stellarium running on my laptop and my Meade ETX125 auto point telescope. I needed WiringPi to run the Web controlled focus knob but had very limited camera options until the whole new camera stack turned up along with dropping WiringPi. I want that new camera stack if only because the support documents have caught up. And Yes, I do know there's an auto focus camera now so don't really need WiringPi but then I need the newer OS.
I may not NEED an SSD equipped system but I have them and they give me choices.
I paused the telescope thing to focus on a BT Caller ID system / Phone Nanny (see my thread in Other Projects ) but again this used WiringPi and I'm currently digging my way forward to the newer IO access methods but need to trade up to the newer OS and before it gets replaced and introduces a whole bunch of new stuff I won't understand.
Anyway, thanks for the input on this.
