I've considered mounting an encrypted fs for my home dir, but that would likely be insufficient against an attacker with physical device access since they could just install assorted rootkits as they please onto my sd card.
It's true a Raspberry Pi is easier for someone to put in their pocket and take for a walk compared to a desktop tower; however, my experience is encrypted filesystems generally cause complete data loss rather than keeping the data safe.

I don't know about cupsd, but over time it has not proven to be very secure. Strangely, that web interface which asks for a system password has not been the main problem but printer filters which call out to various system utilities.
