That was written after 5 hours of trying to get the access point on the pi working.
Now either the pi is a load of junk or the OS is a load of junk.
2 days ago it just froze and would not respond at all so I re-flashed the SD card with the OS and started over.
Without falling into the trap of being labelled an uncritical 'fan boy' I suggest neither of the 'junk' options is helpful.
I think the symptoms you describe are more likely attributable to a faulty or failing microSD card. Or one that is running out of free storage space.
But since you have determined that you are not going to change the microSD card you seem to have an impasse.
After a reboot to finally get it going it crashed so I was a bit miffed.
I now have a 128GB SD card (old one was 16GB which I thought was plenty big enough) after reading that the Pi5 can take up to a 1TB card and will start again, the old card was just getting filled up I think.
Hopefully the new card will stop this from happening again.
