General discussion • Re: RPi 5 as a desktop daily driver?

Smartphones have sort of replaced the PC as a daily driver, but they are not Desktop replacements.
Typing this on a mech keyboard to my Pi5 is not the same as using this forum on a Smartphone.
I feel a daily driver, whatever that is, should relate to productive use of computer technology rather than consumption or entertainment.

These days about half my posts to this forum are made from a mobile. Unfortunately, like this one, those posts are usually made while eating. That's definitely more on the consumption side.

Last year I tried writing programs using an iPad. Even with the keyboard portfolio that was much more difficult than Linux on a Pi. It's surprising how much I rely on focus follows mouse and the ability to slide part of the active window under the ones I'm looking at to be productive.

Writing reports and documentation was even more difficult with an iPad than coding.

I used to thing the way I feel comfortable using a computer was related to typing skills. Fido claims it's more related to a very short term short-term memory. I can't remember what I said in return.
