but isn't one of the reasons browsers take so much RAM that they allocate huge uncompressed bitmaps and cache a lot for better performance?
so a memory saving browser would have to do a lot more rendering on the fly (maybe while scrolling,...) and that also would be a big disadvantage on slow raspberry pis.
