I was going to recalibrated it when the rain stops. I said that nearly a month ago and it just has not stopped raining. So I try and do that soon.Would you then need to work out the new calibration based on the new area you are collecting from ?
Because if you change the catchment area, your rate of rain collection has increased.
That wind could be causing problem with splash if it is exposed to the wind..
You may just want to use fudge factors, I mean correction factors.

Maybe use a Windshield and or switch to a circular funnel style if you're printing a new on out
Last year I tried increasing the bucket amount just to see if it helped but it then either recorded the correct amount or well over the actual amount >50%, on the same value so I just put it back to normal.
I'll have a look when it stops raining, the forecast shows a break on Friday. Is it clean inside? If the tipping bucket mechanism has any dirt or debris then it'll give bad readings. It has recorded 120mm so far this year while the Davis Weather Station about 10m away and the neighbours one have both recorded ~180mm. I had this problem last year with under reporting rainfall.
