I have been using my RP4 for several years with the Elec / Kodi software and everything has worked perfectly. I control it mainly with a dongle called a Media Center Laptop Computer USB IR Remote Control ( long name I know) but what it allows me to do is link my RTI controller via an IR link to the RP4. Yesterday when I went to use it it jumped straight to the loading firm ware screen and would not load the Elec Kodi.
After a bunch of trials, it became apparent that the USB IR dongle was causing the unit to not start the Elec / Kodi software. I also have a USB hub with a mouse and keyboard attached which are working fine. If I plug the Dongle unit into the USB hub everything works including the IR controls and the mouse and keyboard.
Does anyone have any idea why the dongle is stopping the Kodi start up when plugged directly into a USB port. Have tried all 4 ports with the same result. Also trying the dongle on my PC it works fine.
