I'd forgotten that my ISP supplied router uses different SSIDs for 2.4GHz and 5GHz. My saved WiFi credentials were using the 5GHz ones and the zero2W doesn't support that band.
Just confirmed by writing a new image with the correct SSID. Which does bring up WiFi.
Feeling like a right id10t now.
I wonder if others reporting problems with Imager not setting up WiFi are making a similar mistake.
Perhaps Imager needs a warning about this on the WiFI page for all 2.4GHz band only Pi.
