Automation, sensing and robotics • Linear rail oscilation and homing

Hello,

I am attempting to create a moving platform that will house a sensor for continuous measurement. I have assembled all of the parts I will need but and new to coding and raspberry pi. My request should be relatively simple, but I have two main questions:

1. There is a wire coming from the homing sensor of the stepper motor on the linear actuator rail, where on the GPIO scheme should I go with these? I am already using GPIO 17, 18, 27 and a 3.3v spot for the communication from the pi to the stepper driver.

2. This is more of a request than a question, but please take a look at the diagram of my current set up and let me know if there is anything I did wrong or could improve on. I have not powered anything on yet. (image attached)
