And 33 switches should not mean 33 Picos. If some switches are near each other then one node (Pico/Arduino/whatever) could handle several switches.

Yes that's right same as my thought in past and changed my mind that I wanted to save spare GPIO left per Pico because I am going use that GPIO for house lights, garage open, R&R blinking lights, Street lights, etc... those near where the PICO with Switch zones.. AFTER successful with Switch project.

DCC .. Nah... I had it and removed and trashed. I don't like it. I will do my own as replace with Pico or Zero etc. (Of course, add the heavy Duty driver module to control the motors.)
