These components are designed for use with mains voltage. However, you are supposed to have sufficient training and knowledge of your local regulations. In some jurisdictions (especially where reversible plugs are used) you need to switch both live and neutral in order to ensure that there is really no power in the off position.
You may want to use 12/24V parts only. This prevents you from getting electrocuted as a training exercise.
