I would like to give it some more questions, to make sure the answers are equally useful...
Broken or missing EDID from monitor.
For example - Only Bootloader Posts on monitor. Os does not. - viewtopic.php?t=394928
When is diagnostics mode on the bootloader, the display has no EDID or much information about the display.
