Google led me to this but I've not way to test it, it's a year old, and I don't know whether the poster and their /inf can be trusted.
It appears to be a variant on what you've already tried - installing a different driver.
Since Vista--maybe longer--the required RNDIS driver is included with Windows. One might need the inf file provided with the Linux kernel to associate it with the Linux gadget, but likely not.

That thread is difficult to read because it spends too much time on Windows Internet sharing.
