Thanks for the feedback.Via its WiFi?
You mention eth0, that is end0 nowadays for RPi kernel, al least on my 2 RPI4. So it seems to me some poking in smb.cmf and as consequence, samba does its transfers via RJ45, not antenna. WinSCP already did I guess. I have WiFi hard disabled in config.txt:
dtoverlay=disable-wifi
I am not sure what the Ubuntu netplan does by default to metric or so, I removed various -rpt packages that pollute the vanilla Debian methods.
No, the slow 10MBs/s was over ethernet. The pi and the Windows box being directly connected to the cable router. The Windows box has no wifi. I know the pi was not connecting wirelessly with ethernet connected because logging into the router showed as much. However, If I unplugged ethernet it would then appear in the wireless lan and the last number of the IP would change.
Ifconfig lists eth0, lo, and wlan0 on my recently updated pi 4. Not sure why I don't see ed0. Perhaps installing the samba (or some other dependent package) changed this?
