Oh yes, PoE are indeed a #1 killer, also all kinds of buck and boost converters...It's usually bad power, some PoE devices are dreadful and spike up to 9v transients. Can blow the PMIIC up.
PiHut had a delivery in the last few months - they may be for internal use? Get in touch, tell them how many you need and I am sure they can order more in. Minimum order from us is I think 25 units. I checked with commercial, unless you are an account holder you cannot buy direct from us though.
