I did install a fresh copy of Trixie to the 4 TB SSD.
Then checked it booted as expected (MBR with 2TB limitation).
Then I used your script mbr2gpt and it did the job to convert the 4 TB SSD from MBR to GPT on the fly, no hassle at all.
I think it's convenient to leave the SD in place, as you can choose where you want to boot from by using the keyboard space bar. Just in case.
