Hello again,

I may have an idea regarding why I don’t experience any crashes with the new Raspberry Pi OS Trixie. By comparing devices running Trixie with those running the old Bookworm version, I noticed with swapon --show that the swap configuration has changed: in Bookworm, swap is a classic 512 MB swap file on the SD card, whereas in Trixie, swap now uses ZRAM. This means it is compressed and stored in RAM instead of being written to the SD card.

This probably reduces I/O on the SD card, which in turn reduces stress on the SD card and prevents driver crashes.

PS: I’m a bit surprised that such a significant change isn’t mentioned in the release notes (https://downloads.raspberrypi.com/raspi ... _notes.txt). The only reference I found is this forum thread: viewtopic.php?t=390708
.
