"SSH works but the Zero does not obtain any ip address"
Normally, SSH works over the network to connect to a Pi by its ip address (or host name)
I use SSH on a PC ("PuTTY" program on Windows 10) to connect over the network to a Zero, Zero 2W, Pi5/4/3/2/1 by ip address.
The Zero should connect to your WiFi router and get an ip address from that router e.g. 192.168.1.42
If WiFi is not configured correctly, it will not get an ip address and SSH will not work.
