That shouldn't be necessary as at least Waveshare's version appears to be claiming compatibility with Windows, therefore it has to have a valid EDID.would take a fresh uSD with Trixie, add below to the beginning of kernel command line (cmdline.txt) and bootCode:
video=HDMI-A-1:480x1920M@60D
Using video= will also use the very conservative CVT formula for timings if it doesn't match a resolution defined in the EDID, so it may well not work.
