While I don't know really what file system any of the drives have as I have never formatted any of them, the hard drive and thumb drives all work with windows. I would assume the thumb drives are fat format.
But it still gets back to permissions as I posted.

This is the point where my patience has expired. So this will likely be last post in this thread.
Windows file systems do not support Linux owner, group, and permissions.
What you see is a fiction created by the driver at mount time. That's controlled by options passed to the mount command.
Which options depend on which file system.
So, find out what filesystem is in use (hint lsblk on Linux or right click then properties on windows) then see the output from man mount.
