I have this annoying problem with my Pi 400. To put it short, I've flashed an image (PiMiga 4.0) to a 128GB sd card. When I put this card in my Pi 400, it boots to the rainbow screen and then halts. When I put the same card in a cardreader and stick that in a USB port, it boots to the desktop with no problems.
I've already tried several sd cards with the same image, including the approved Kingston, Samsung and Sandisk cards, all with the same results. I've also tried a different image (Raspi OS) and that boots fine from sd, so there is no problem with the sd slot itself.
I've also tried writing the image using 3 different card readers, including 2 that served me well in the past when other card readers let me down.
I've tried updating the bootloader using the raspi-eeprom-update tool, but it is already at the newest version.
The Pi 400 is powered from the official power supply that was included with the 400 kit, but a different power supply doesn't change things.
Could it be that the image is too old and therefore isn't compatible with the newest bootloader? Then why does the USB option still boot?
I've checked everything in the "boot problems sticky" but so far, no luck. Is there anyone who experienced the same behaviour in the past and found a solution?
Btw. I found several other threads in this forum with comparable problems, but no solutions and the threads are now locked so I can't continue there.
