Regardless of whether this thread should be combined with the other thread or not (I think it should as it explains the journey up to this point and also has some more detail on NFS 3 vs NFS 4 booting), you are not providing much actual information on what you see happeining when you boot, error messages etc.
To check if the drivers work I would simpy look at the boot log output and see if it says something like (mine is an AX88772A)And of course also check if a new network interface is created, for example by before and after you insert the ASIX adapter. After that you can start thinking about how to configure it to get a static or dynamic IP address and get to your NFS root. I think (from a cursory search with Google) this can be done with the kernel boot argument.
