I'm guessing with the convoluted methods mentioned they go into the network remotely and then can access the Pi on the LAN but the device itself cannot call out of that LAN.How are you connecting through VPN or ssh with no internet connection?There is a raspberry pi (Pi 5) that I can only access (and upload files to) through a combination of VPNs, remote web clients, VNC and ssh. It is several thousand kilometers away from me, and it is not connected to the internet, but I may need to update its firmware (as if using sudo rpi-update <hash code>) in the future to solve an issue.
