Hi

I struggle to get the touch on the official touch 7" v1 DSI display to work.
It has worked before, but after a period stored away I upgraded from Pi3 to Pi 4 and now touch only works in top left corner (on the raspberry).
This is with no modification of the Pi image. I've tried 64-bit and 32-bit and also tested the old Pi3 used before with new OS image. Same results - only touch in the top left corner. Tried also to play with various dtoverlay settings found here in the forum but nothing helped.

And I have re-attached all the ribbon cables - twice.

Is it a hardware failure or is there a settings that I haven't found?
If everything above checks out, then unfortunately:
  • The FT5406 controller or the touch digitizer glass has likely failed.

The symptom of only registering in one corner is a common sign of digitizer failure.
The official 7″ display requires no special software setup; it’s plug-and-play on modern Raspberry Pi OS. Since it doesn’t work correctly even on a Pi 3 with a clean image, the most likely explanation is a hardware failure of the touch digitizer/controller.
