What's the context of this? A thousand foot range seems more than a bit large for a personal project.
How many speakers are you planning to drive?
It's theoretically possible but...
Personally, I'd start small and investigate one of the multi-room audio protocols. IIRC airplay has been reverse engineered to run (client and server) on both Linux and Windows.

It's theoretically possible but...
- The Pico has no on board audio.
- Zero series Pi, Pi400, Pi5, and Pi500 have no audio output except through HDMI. It can be added at additional cost.
- Don't forget to budget for a PSU and boot media (and spares) for each PI.
- The on board antenna for pi and pico WiFi is not really designed for long range use. Modifying to accept an external antenna might be possible but would void the warranty and any FCC or similar certification. The only PI models that can legitimately accept an external antenna are the CM4 and CM5 but using those would significantly increase per unit cost.
