Just going to post this as my solution...
SOLVED! - Doing something else, I moved the battery that is 4 inches below the Pi and that seems to have fixed it, now have an uptime of 80% or so, still does drop out sometimes but mostly worked.
Thanks (The wifi is now -82dBm, up from ~-90dBm)
