General discussion • the write mode and execution mode of the Raspberry Pi Pico

I'd like to know about the write mode and execution mode of the Raspberry Pi Pico.

When I created a project in the following environment, downloaded it to the Pico via USB, and started debugging using Eclipse's Debug Configuration, the value of the Timelr register, which monitors the counter, remained at 0 (zero), and the program would not proceed.

On the other hand, when I wrote the created ELF file to the Pico via USB, disconnected the USB cable from the Pico, and then reconnected it, the value of the Timelr register incremented and the program ran normally.

I don't understand the reason why, after writing in write mode, I can run the program without restarting the Pico, or after restarting the Pico.

If anyone knows, please let me know.

Thank you.

Development Environment
・Eclipse IDE Embedded C/C++ Developers
・The xPack GNU Arm Embedded GCC
・The xPack Windows Build Tools

・Raspberry Pi Debug Probe
