Possibly I've given it a wrong parameter, but it shouldn't kill my shell.
echo is a shell builtin, so your shell is the process that enters the kernel by calling sys_write().

There is an Oops, "Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference", four seconds after the Warnings. Following an Oops there is no attempt to return to userspace. The process is killed.
