I hope you realise that 120V can kill.

Whatever you do, you are going to need some protection against prying fingers and animal noses. If you don't understand that then give up on your project now.

The way to switch high voltages is by using a low voltage relay that can be controlled by your micro computer. In the land of 240V I'd do that with a Shelly device as they are failrly safe and can be controlled using a networked MQTT signal (which is easy to generate from my Raspberry Pi).
