Yup.. that's why I am a little lost here and frustrated why it doesn't work. I've spent so much time on this and it just won't work..That sounds like it should work. You've done everything correctly.
I don't know what to suggest next.
It should work, and a 3B+ is fully capable of running from the USB drive. I upgraded a 3B+ yesterday that boots and runs from a USB disk drive.
I really hope someone here can figure it out and help me!
