Actually, it looks like this part is succeeding, but for some reason on trixie fake-hwclock (actually fake-hwclock-load on trixie, go figure) is bumping the system clock back to the value stored in the fake-hwclock file, despite it containing an earlier datetime. Strange. Disabling fake-hwclock-load and fake-hwclock-save and everything is working as expected. So something seems to be broken in fake-hwclock in trixie.
