Changed to a Pi4 B now running
Pi OS (64-bit) Debian Bookworm, with Desktop

/boot/firmware/cmdline.txt:

Code:

console=serial0,115200 console=tty1 root=PARTUUID=11356168-02 rootfstype=ext4 fsck.repair=yes rootwait quiet splash plymouth.ignore-serial-consoles cfg80211.ieee80211_regdom=GB video=DSI-1:720x1280@60,rotate=90
/boot/firmware/config.txt:

Code:

## Automatically load overlays for detected DSI displaysdisplay_auto_detect=1# Automatically load initramfs files, if foundauto_initramfs=1# Enable DRM VC4 V3D driverdtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3ddtoverlay=vc4-kms-dsi-ili9881-7inch,rotation=90max_framebuffers=2
What happens? well the splash screen and the cmdline prints are orientated correct at 90degrees during boot, but when the Desktop finally loads it starts in portrait normal mode.
