Well, my experience differs from that. What I missed to explain is, that I use an image without a Desktop. That's why I followed:Why don't you simply use the 'rotation' parameter from config.txt to make that happen? Doing like this will make sure your touch is also rotated correctly.

to modify the cmdline.txt
I am using Chromium in kiosk mode. After modifying the config.txt and cmdline.txt, the touch inputs were rotated but not the content of Chromium. To rotate the content I needed to modify the wayfire.ini.Did you specifiy the parameters in wayfire.ini manually?
When I have more time, I will try to repeat it with a fresh (lite?) image.
But I am still wondering, why everything works after a power cut but stops working after a soft reboot...
