It's not rocket science just because it's a large program. There are good instructions on how to compile libreoffice on Debian at https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Dev ... ingOnLinux. The only additional thing I've had to do was install autotools-dev as well but that may have been some quirk on my system.

Patience is indeed required, the compilation process has been running for 3 hours so far on my Pi 5 16GB, it seems to use '-j 4' so scheduling four jobs at the 'same' time. Memory usage seems to be mostly for file caches:

That's faster than I expected, the Pi5 really is a great device. Are you using an M.2 SSD?
