Troubleshooting • Trouble setting up Klipper Board

Hi All,

I'm trying to set up a Mellow FLY DP5 board on a Raspberry Pi 5 (using an older OS). I have been trying to follow the instructions here, but Something isn't right. I flash katapult as per the instructions, and it appears to work, but when running 'lsusb' to confirm, the device isn't in the list.

I've spent most of the day trying to figure it out using ChatGPT and Grok to help, but I'm not having much luck.

Here are a few observations:
  • after flashing, I run 'ls /dev/serial/by-id/*' and get the following:
ls: cannot access '/dev/serial/by-id/*': No such file or directory
  • when I run 'sudo dmesg -w' I get a lot of over-current warnings. The screenshot below is taken after just a few minutes of up time. The only thing The Pi is conntected to an external power suppyl via the USB-C port, and to the DP5 by one of the USB 3.0 ports (i also tried one of the USB 2.0 ports)

  • My Raspberry pi is connected to an ATX converted power supply - along with the DP5. The Pi is connected to a USB port (power only), the DP5 is conntected to the 12V jack, and to the Pi via USB. When I disconnect the Pi from the power supply (so it's only connected via the DP5), the fan on the Pi spins. not sure if this is relevant.
  • I have tried multiple USB cables, checked voltages, tried a second Pi, connecting with/without the DP5 connected to the power supply directly.

I'm really not sure what else to try.

As a side note - I tried to boot off the latest OS, but I couldn't get my Pi to connect to the network. I'm connecting via Putty, so I can't connect to diagnose.
