Agreed. I suspect something wrong with the USB/ethernet IC or the hardware feeding into it. Unfortunately, and assuming it boots, the only way I can see to login to it now is ssh over WiFi or over the UART.
Usual question to OP: what changed between it working and not?
Random thought: if the OP is trying to use gadget mode and has dtoverlay=dwc2,dr_mode=peripheral in their config.txt what they're seeing is what I'd expect as putting the controller into device (gadget) mode means it can no longer talk to the USB hub and ethernet controller.
