I wonder if it's possible to train kittens to have a sense of humor?

No -- at least not by AI methods. Kittens are not Artificially Intelligent.
Observation 1. If kittens are artificial, they are not intelligent.
Observation 2. If kittens are intelligent, they are not artificial.
[Editor's note -- the author is well aware that either one of these observations would be sufficient.]
Therefore, in the case of kittens, they cannot simultaneously be Artificial and Intelligent, and AI training will not be successful
The case of Real Stupid Kittens remains possible.
