Using mdns to find another host is kind of a red herring. Yes, it can be done, but doesn't need to be done.
I can use dns_gethostbyname with "test.local" or any other name if mdns is enabled. So I don't need to search mdns for the ip address.
Interestingly, in the sdk you cannot use dns_gethostbyname for the local host even if you give its proper xxx.local name. I will eventually put a github site with a minimal mdns use for iot communications.
