Throughout the years technology has only temporarily reduced the jobs availability at best, working hours should have been at least halved many decades ago. Instead we hugely increased our workforce by inventing more work so that most married women would also be brought into the workforce. Will we be able to create new jobs at the same rate as AI will take over the old jobs, that is what is bugging me. We have a global crisis in our hands. Maybe the "most widespread" economic depression the world has ever seen. It is here, now. We were never this interconnected before. And what do we do to resolve the problems? Nothing. Political leaders are playing poker, human lives are in the pot. And we are feeding the fire with possible future unemployment of millions. The technology is advancing too fast and we can't keep up with it. Bitcoin won't save us. Not everybody can become a youtuber. The immigration crisis of western countries is a reality. It is no joke. And there are "billions" more where those people are coming from. They will reach the same threshold and they will march on to a dream of a better world in the west which seems depleted already. Who and how will stop them?
This thing is getting out of hand. Oligarchs are playing a dangerous game.
There are reasons for this? I won't get too political but two words; control and wars. Try getting people to fight your wars who are used to having a lot of leisure time, in turn, what are wars really about, the wealth of the larger populace?.
How has a such a fickle society been manipulated into spending through the nose to have the "right" label on their clothes with total disregard to physical quality? How is so much money put into advertising that is mostly totally ignored? Its creating unnecessary jobs and transfer of wealth. This started before AI, imagine how much AI can improve the manipulation, its not intelligence it is just fast statistical processing of massive amounts of data to predict behaviour.
