IMO the virtual environment seems tedious. Is there a good tutorial about how to setup and use a venv for someone new to venv methods?
Did you look at the link I gave you? The basics are covered in there along with one method of turning them off.

Not all. I updated most of mine but that's not going to happen for Trixie. For reasons discussed elsewhere.
I hope the switch to Bookworm was worth it. I have not yet found any way to remove the mouse cursor from the screen on my kiosk web page display. I wasted hours of my life going down the 'unclutter' rabbit hole.

There's one very simple one though it's not without some disadvantages: use sudo raspi-config to switch from Wayland back to X11 and the old methods should just work. IIRC it's under "Advanced Options"
