I used to use the MAPM (My Arbitrary Precision Math) library, which was free and easily callable from BBC BASIC (I made a wrapper called MAPMLIB.BBC), but that was for Windows only. Its interface was in the form of decimal strings, which was very convenient and easy to use, but probably not the most efficient.

I've not looked into what might be most appropriate in a cross-platform context, there are so many similar libraries and it would be necessary to investigate which most readily maps to BBC BASIC's internal data structures. Writing one from scratch in BASIC would be another possibility, but that's probably beyond my capabilities.

I'd be interested in any recommendations you might have.
I think 8th uses internally libBF. It's small and fast enough.
