I've got what looks like a similar manifestation of the problem.
Pi 5, bookworm patched up to date, labwc, only (known) customisation is to set numlock to 'on' at startup.
Double-click on a document file; Writer opens the file, but with no top bar, so can't close/minimise/maximise. First thing this morning Writer was opening full screen; now it opens to the width of the document.
Opening Writer via the menu gives a new document with min/max/close as expected.
Moving a document selected in File Manager into the Writer area using a mouse prompts to open a new section (rather than just opening the document)
Possibly relevant that documents were produced on an older version of Writer (7.6 or so) on a Windows 7 machine.
