So... for the most part, I haven't had a lot of luck getting 3d games to work through steam... I did get the original half life working through proton, but the result did have a tendency to have long pauses that more or less made the game unplayable...
None of the source engine games have worked well for me... (think half-life 2 and portal)... ie they are running basically without any acceleration at all, (assuming you can get them to load at all)....
I think TF2 is a source engine game??? if so I would expect it to have the same problem as all the others...
If someone else has had better luck I would love to know what you did (because I like all of those games)...
