I've switched to X11 cause it runs much faster than Wayland
Not sure whether this holds true for GL/OpenGL applications and friends. I did a quick test in the past with glxgears under X11/Xorg vs wayland, and I was getting double fps with wayland (249 fps @ full screen vs. 108 fps). I fully agree that running pure X11 applications under Xwayland is occasionally problematic (and in some cases downright unusable), but it all depends on the type of the apps someone is using. My twocents.
Imho of course, when I tried WebGL benchmarks on Chromium based browsers running on both X11 and Wayland, the X11 was faster few frames/s and generic heavy webpages/scrolling was faster while still fully accelerated. Hardinfo GPU test benchmark is clearly faster. Writing seems faster and even the mouse pointer smoother. For now I can only see positive things going back to X11 using a 1080p monitor for a desktop PC classic usage. Of course I imagine some apps may be faster on Wayland but I wonder which ones.

Frame/s also may not be the only benchmark value; in a 2D GUI scenario the I/O latency from the keyboard/mouse to/from the screen seems more important. It make me remember the old Intel Atom/SGX situation where software rendering was faster than hardware accelerated rendering with Windows GUI. The whole new windows manager fully using Directx9 ended up in that config just like Wayland feel nowdays.
